You stared up at the stars, wishing for adventure outside of your boring, dull office life. You wanted to know what had happened to your best friend, Donna Noble, who had mysteriously disappeared the day of her wedding. You heard someone walk up behind you but kept your eyes to the stars, knowing that it was Wilf, Donna's grandfather. Ever since the wedding, he'd been acting different, as if he'd seen something that had changed his life.
"How are you doing, (name)?" The old man asked kindly, sitting next to you, making you smile.
"Oh, just sitting here watching the stars, wishing... wishing that I was someone important, but I'm just a girl who works at the library." You said wistfully, staring at the sky in wonder. Wilf put his hand on your shoulder in a grandfatherly way, making you look up at him curiously. He had years of love and concern in his eyes.
"(Name), I once knew a man who traveled far and wide, the greatest man I ever knew and go you want to know what he told my granddaughter?" You nodded, intrigued."He said that he had never met someone that was not important in all of his travels." He gave you a warm smile which you returned happily, before you both heard an odd noise, almost like a whirr, whirr yet louder. Wilf's eyes widened in joy, and he turned, you following his movements to see a royal blue1965 police box with a "pull to open" sign that had not been there before.
You stood up wearily, unsure of how to address this when a familiar figure suddenly stepped out, yelling her head off about a "stupid Martian" that had "whisked her away and not even let her say goodbye."
"Donna!" You cried happily, making her spin around on her heel to look at you and her grandfather, her firey red hair spinning out around her and she grinned, running up to you and crushing you in a tight hug. You hugged her back and laughed, tears burning your eyes. Wilf came up and joined in the hug, and you failed to notice the tall, skinny man step out of the police box and watch the three of you.
"Oh how I missed you both!" Donna said happily, wiping her eyes happily and pulling away. It was then that you noticed the man next to the police box and backed away from Donna, now scared. You had no idea how he had appeared here and frankly it scared you to no end. Donna noticed and looked behind her before huffing and waving him over. "Oi, spaceman, get over here and introduce yourself and stop standing there like some bloke!" Whoever this man was, she seemed to be very familiar with him.
He smiled and walked over, extending his hand to you in a friendly gesture. "Hi, I'm the Doctor," he said, making you raise an eyebrow at him in question. Now that he was closer, you noticed how his hair stuck up wildly and seemed bouncy, but you could tell that it was a cover up for something dark.
"(Name)," You said, smiling and taking his hand and shaking it, noticing that he had rather warm hands.
"Well enough standing around, let's go inside and have a cuppa!" Wilf said, laughing as you and the "Doctor" as he called himself sprang apart, and for some reason you felt your face heat up, but decided to ignore it as you walked inside their house, possibly to get to know what on earth happened to Donna and why she was with a man who called himself the Doctor.
